Wireless USB-based Android Tablet Turns Dumb TV into Smart TV

In what is a sure sign of a maturing marketplace, Wisair - one of the few providers of Wireless USB silicons - will soon be offering single CMOS chip solution meant for the tablet marketplace. To highlight this new chip's abilities, Wisair will be showing off an Android-based tablet with wireless streaming capabilities. Needless to say, this is indeed big news.

The reason this is such a big deal is that while many higher end HDTV are USB enabled, very few have Wi-Fi (let alone Bluetooth) capabilities. With UWB-based Wireless USB's low latency and high bandwdith, it really does make this chip the next "must have" feature for all future tablets. Imagine being able to use your new tablet (or "media appliance") not to only seamless stream movies and music to your TV, but also surf the Internet and play games on it. You can do all the above without needing to spend any money on after-market accessories. The potential - and possibilities - truly are endless. For the most part, they hinge on whether or not this new chips really can deliver Wireless USB abilities with low power requirements that are critical for this market niche. More information will be available after Computex Taipei (May 31 to June 4), as this is when the chip maker plans to official unveil their latest creation.
